Its precisely figured 150 mm parabolic primary mirror reveals many details of the night sky's wonders. Its wide field of view makes it ideal for comfortably observing larger deep-sky objects, such as star clusters and nebulae. At high magnifications, lunar surface features can be studied in detail, while planetary surface details also become visible.
The simplified, lightweight optical tube can be used effectively on lower-capacity mounts, making it easy to transport as a grab-and-go instrument. Its cherry-red finish is aesthetically pleasing, and it features a basic 1.25" focuser. (Please note: DSLR cameras cannot reach focus without additional focal extension!)
The SkyWatcher Star Discovery 150 Newtonian optical tube comes with 1.25" 23 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, providing magnifications of 33x and 75x. The 6x24 crosshair finder scope makes locating objects easy, and its bracket also incorporates a solar finder function. It is equipped with a short, fixed dovetail bar for attachment to astronomical mounts; therefore, we primarily recommend it for alt-azimuth mounts with a side-mounted dovetail clamp (e.g. AZ-4, AZ-5). For use with an equatorial mount, tube rings and a suitably long dovetail bar will also be required.
