Why do we consider the SkyWatcher 90/900 refractor one of the best choices for those planning to purchase their first telescope? The answer is simple: its optics deliver sharp images and require minimal maintenance.
An ideal instrument for beginner planetary observers
Thanks to its exceptionally high-contrast, sharp image quality, Saturn’s magnificent rings and the Cassini Division within them provide an unforgettable viewing experience. Jupiter’s swirling cloud bands and Great Red Spot cannot hide from the observer’s eyes either. Naturally, the silvery shimmering lunar disc, with its countless craters, also offers a captivating sight. In addition, numerous colourful double stars and sparkling star clusters can be observed with this telescope.
Extensive accessories
The telescope comes with 25 mm and 10 mm Super Barium eyepieces, providing magnifications of 36x and 90x. A mirror diagonal ensures comfortable viewing. A 6x30 finder scope makes locating celestial objects easier. The standard model includes an inverted-image finder scope, while the deluxe version features an upright-image finder scope. The latter makes it easier to identify celestial objects according to the orientation of star charts. The mirror diagonal included in the standard package provides an upright but left-right reversed image. For terrestrial observation, an Amici prism can be purchased to provide a correct-image view. Its 1.25" focuser features a T2 thread at the end, allowing DSLR cameras to be attached.
Equatorial mount
The EQ-3 mount with aluminium legs is equipped with slow-motion controls, allowing you to track the sky smoothly and easily by hand. The optionally available clock drive makes this even easier by automatically keeping the selected target in your telescope’s field of view. The eyepiece tray can hold numerous accessories, even a cup of observing tea. The extendable legs can be adjusted to your height for comfortable viewing.
The telescope and mount weigh 17 kg.
