Stereo-microscopes owe their popularity to their wide range and ease of use. They are recommended for technicians, (coin) restorers and biologists. Since you don't need to prepare slides, you can even examine a whole beetle under them. The view is always almost breathtakingly three-dimensional.
Our SM-450A microscope is equipped with a 0.7x-4.5x zoom objective, which allows stepless adjustment of magnifications from 7x to 45x with the standard WF10x eyepiece. The eyepiece has an outstandingly large field of view: at 7x magnification, it gives a field of view of 28.6 mm. Thanks to its complex construction, it provides a contrasty image with a sharp image right to the edge of the field of view. The head of the microscope slides up and down on a rod and can even be turned sideways on request, allowing objects of virtually any size to be placed underneath (the stage provides a sharp image of objects up to 140 mm in size).) Thanks to its "smooth" design and its increased size (320x285 mm), the object table is particularly suitable for inspecting and repairing printed circuit boards. 100 mm of space is left under the lenses for work, which can be increased to 165 mm with an optional 0.5x reduction lens.
The microscope does not have built-in illumination, but can be retrofitted with external halogen fluorescent ring illumination or LED illumination.
The binocular head is tilted at 45° and the eye relief is freely adjustable between 55-75 mm. Dioptric correction is provided on both sides. By fitting a rubber eye cap, included in the package, to the top of the eyepieces, you can exclude side scattered light, making observations more comfortable. The basic package also includes a sturdy dust cover to protect the microscope from dust when not in use.
For digital recording of what you see in the microscope, we offer members of our ToupCam camera series - to mount these in the microscope, you will need a 30mm adapter, which is also available in our shop for an extra charge.
In the series of images above, you can observe the details of the crown above the coat of arms on a £10,000 paper coin through 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x objectives. The images were taken with a 2 megapixel camera
