The new SkyWatcher CQ350 Pro GoTo SynScan Mechanism is based on a completely new concept than most of the brand's usual German equatorial mechanisms. In addition to increased power handling, the engineers' main design goals were more precise operation and sophisticated electronic connectivity, which they have managed to achieve with professionalism
.The SkyWatcher CQ350 Pro GoTo SynScan mechanics have an outstanding load capacity of up to 35 kg of equipment. For stability, it can be placed between the EQ6-R and the EQ8-R, where it can fill a real market need. With a robust 7 cm tripod leg (24 kg) with two 10 kg weights and a head (24 kg), the total weight weighs 51 kg. It can be used for larger installations as well as fixed under a dome, or with its own tripod (column), as the head can be purchased separately. The CQ350 Pro Goto mechanics are compatible with the EQ-8 foot.
The mechanics also largely satisfy the needs of astrophotographers, with almost all the ports as on other models of the brand. It comes with a standard autoguider port, a SNAP connection (2.1) prepared for camera start-up, four USB ports and, of course, in addition to the network connection, RJ-10, RJ-12, RJ-45 AUX input/output ports. For astrophotographers, it's almost mandatory to add an externally connected pole finder to the mechanics for more accurate pole alignment.
The SynScan handheld controller also features an LCD display for communication, and its database stores data on more than 42,900 objects, any of which can be accessed with the touch of a few buttons. It also supports computer communication, making it possible to control the mechanics from a PC, and last but not least, it can be connected to a GPS receiver. The quality of driving is further enhanced by the built-in cord-belt drive and the increased size of the pulley wheel, which additionally connects the pulley wheel to the pulley sprocket with spring preload for optimum force at all times.
