The SkyWatcher AZ-Go2 127/1500 MC telescope is recommended for those who value performance, portability and ease of use while looking for an affordable alternative. Its compact optical tube, measuring just 35 cm in length, and lightweight mount make it easy to transport. Its excellent optics deliver sharp, high-contrast images, allowing you to observe Jupiter’s Great Red Spot or the famous Cassini Division in Saturn’s rings. It also reveals numerous galaxies, while the details of many star clusters can be clearly observed.
The AZ-Go2 mount features GoTo control and can be easily operated from a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi using the free SynScan app. Its user-friendly operation is particularly beneficial for beginner amateur astronomers. Simply select the desired object from the catalogue, and the telescope will automatically locate it in the sky. The mount not only slews automatically to the selected object but can also track it, making observing even more convenient. The telescope can also be used with the SkySafari planetarium software, which includes an updateable asteroid and comet database, among other features.
The SkyWatcher AZ-Go2 package includes 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, providing 60x and 150x magnification. A red dot finder (StarPointer) makes locating celestial objects easier, while a 1.25" mirror diagonal provides more comfortable viewing. The telescope produces an upright, laterally reversed image, making it suitable for nature observation as well.
The single-arm mount provides adequate stability, while the extendable steel tripod legs can be adjusted to suit the observer’s height. The accessory tray can hold a range of accessories—or even a cup of observing tea.
The AZ-Go2 mount can also be powered by AA batteries, although this is not recommended. It is advisable to use it with a 12 V battery or a suitable 230 V mains adapter; these are available separately.
