If you want to use your telescope in the field or do not have access to a 220V mains power source, you will need a battery. Depending on the battery capacity and telescope mount, they can power your mount and possibly other accessories for varying periods. (Operating time depends on the condition of the battery, the temperature and, naturally, the mount's power consumption.)
The 12V/9Ah battery can power Sky-Watcher EQ-3/5/HEQ-5/EQ-6/AZ-GT mounts for approximately 4.5–6 hours. (Smaller single-arm GoTo mounts can be powered for approximately 15–18 hours.)
We recommend the 6V/4Ah battery for Sky-Watcher EQ-2/EQ-3/EQ-5 stepper motor controllers, in both single- and dual-motor versions. It can power the motors for approximately 15–20 hours.
Our charger has an output of 0.8A and can be used to charge the batteries. It features both fast-charging and trickle-charging modes, ensuring gentle charging. The device is also equipped with short-term, maximum 1-minute short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection. An LED indicator makes operation easier by showing the charging status: the red LED changes to green when the battery is fully charged.
You can purchase a power cable separately for the mount or other external device, depending on its type. The battery charger is not included in the package and can be purchased separately.
