With the ZWO motorized filter changer, you can easily and quickly change filters from your computer, providing significant convenience for both visual and photographic observations.
The filter changer has T2 or M54 (5×2" model) threads on both sides for telescope and camera attachment. It can be connected to a computer via USB 2.0 port and, after installing ASCOM's driver, it can be controlled by any compatible software. For the 2" model, the package includes M54/M48 and M54/T2 adapter rings to connect different devices. The 1.25" model also comes with a 1.25" shutter adapter.
The ZWO motorised filter changer is housed in a high-quality aluminium frame, with a width of just 20 mm, weighing 300 and 400 grams respectively, and is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Thanks to its slim design, it can be placed surprisingly close to the camera's sensor, so there is no need to worry about vignetting even with bright binoculars. For example, when using an ASI 1600 camera with a 31 mm filter, you can even use f2 brightness.
The filter changer can accept filters with 5, 7 and 8 slots or without slots. This number of different filters will satisfy the needs of the truly dedicated, serious planetary and deep-sky observer. Which filters should I use with the filter changer? For visual deep-sky observations, there are light pollution filters, and narrow pass (UHC) and various line filters (OIII, H-beta) to improve the visibility of emission and planetary nebulae. For planetary observations, there are a myriad of colour filters to choose from to help you see low-contrast surface detail. For astrophotography, use L, R, G, B filters or narrow-band filters (e.g. H-alpha, OIII, H-beta).
