The ZWO ASI 585 MC Air colour cooled camera is ideal for high-end planetary imaging as well as deep-sky photography.
What makes the ZWO ASI 585 MC Air colour cooled camera special? Following the concept seen with the ZWO ASI 2600 MC Pro Air, you get a 3 in 1 device. In addition to the color cooled camera, the camera housing also contains a built-in guide camera sensor, similar to using an off-axis guide. On top of that, the device also includes an ASIAir controller unit with 256 GB of memory!
If you want to copy your files to a PC, there's a USB-C port. The ASIAir built-in module can of course be controlled via a WiFi network, for example via your smartphone. The device supports two networks. The 2.4 GHz network has the advantage of a greater range of up to 20 metres, while the 5 GHz network is suitable for shorter distances but guarantees faster speeds.
The main camera boasts a state-of-the-art sensor from SONY with 8 megapixels resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), a 6.26 x 11.13 mm sensor and 2.9 µm pixels, making it a contender in many areas of astrophotography.
The camera's built-in UV/IR filter eliminates the "halo" seen around bright stars.
The sensor's 12-bit output allows the capture of 4096 shades of color (compared to 8-bit output of most cameras, which can capture "only" 256 shades per color channel). The large sensor is also useful for capturing images of the sun and moon. The camera also features a built-in HCG mode, which effectively reduces readout noise at high gain while maintaining the wide dynamic range that would only be experienced at low gain.
The ZWO ASI 585 MC Air color cooled cameras feature a high performance Peltier cooler that reduces camera temperature by 35°C compared to ambient temperatures.
The camera has a T2 thread, but can be mounted in any 1.25" or 2" shutter using the adapters included in the package.
The ZWO ASI 585 MC Air color cooled camera has 4 USB 2.0 ports. The camera is cooled by a 12V supply voltage, for which the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 3A.
