The ZWO ASI 183 MC-PRO colour-cooled cameras are optimised for high-quality planetary imaging and deep-sky photography. It first attracts attention with its powerful 20.18 megapixel 5496x3672 pixel sensor and 12-bit output, as well as its particularly high frame rate (19 frames per second). The pixel size of 2.4 microns makes it optimal for short-focus, high brightness instruments. Its extremely high light utilisation (QE) of 84% is due to its back-illuminated sensor. With appropriate software, it can also be used as a driving camera.
Small pixel size ensures the capture of fine detail, and the 12-bit output allows 4096 shades of colour to be recorded (compared to 8-bit, or "only" 256 shades per colour channel on most cameras). The large sensor is also useful for capturing sun and moon images. Built-in ST-4 autoguider port also makes these devices great for use as a guide camera.
The ZWO ASI 183 MC-PRO color cooled cameras feature a powerful Peltier cooler that reduces the camera temperature by 45°C compared to ambient temperatures, so you can capture even the finest details of galaxies. The camera has a T2 thread, but can be inserted into any 1.25" or 2" shutter using the adapters included in the package.
The ZWO ASI 183 MC-Pro camera has a 256 MB DDR3 memory buffer, which increases the stability of data transfer between the camera and PC. It plays an important role in minimizing the so-called "amp-glow" phenomenon, which occurs mainly during slow USB 2.0 data traffic.
The ZWO ASI 183 MC-PRO color cooled camera has 2 USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 ports. The camera is cooled by a 12V supply voltage, for which the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 3A.
For image capture, a number of free software can be downloaded from the internet, we particularly recommend SharpCap and FireCapture.
