The ToupTek GPM 662M monochrome camera is an excellent choice primarily as a guide camera, thanks to its high sensitivity (QE > 91%) and USB 2.0 connectivity. Its back-illuminated 2.1 MP Sony IMX662 sensor delivers clean, low-noise images with exceptionally low read noise. The 2.9 μm pixel size also enables accurate guiding even with shorter focal length telescopes.
The 12-bit output captures 4096 intensity levels at a maximum 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution with frame rates of up to 8.9 fps. It also features a built-in UV/IR-cut filter, so there is no need to purchase one separately.
A wide range of free software is available for image capture. On Windows, SharpCap and FireCapture are especially recommended, but the camera also works very well with the manufacturer’s own ToupSky software. The popular PHD2 software also supports the device, while the ASCOM driver ensures even broader compatibility. The camera can be used on Windows, Linux, and macOS systems.
With the included C-mount/1.25" adapter, 1.25" filters can also be used, and thanks to the C-mount connection, C-thread lenses can be attached directly as well.
