The SkyWatcher Star Discovery goto mechanics are an excellent choice for amateur astronomers looking for a compromise between portability and stability. If you think you'd rather spend your precious time observing celestial beauties than searching for them, this mechanic is for you, as its computer control makes it a snap to put any celestial object on the telescope.

Thanks to the SynScan app, you don't need to know the sky like the back of your hand: just the names of a few bright stars will do. Once you've set two of them in a row, the mechanic can find the star cluster, galaxy, etc. of your choice in any remote corner of the sky. The mechanic can not only adjust but also track celestial bodies and if that's not enough, it also has a computer connection, for which a cable can be purchased separately. A unique feature is that its axes are equipped with an encoder, which allows you to move the mechanism by hand without losing its position.

The steel foot design provides stability beyond its class. It can carry short focus (bright focus) 10 cm lens or 12-13 cm Cassegrain or 15 cm short tube telescopes.

The Star Discovery mechanics can also be battery powered (although this is not recommended) and also has an external power supply connection for optional operation from a car cigarette lighter. For those looking for a more portable solution, we recommend the simpler battery powered solution. An optional mains adapter is required for operation from a 220V mains supply.
