The new SkyWatcher EQ-6R Pro GoTo Mechanism is the successor to the older NEQ-6 Pro GoTo Mechanism, which has received several improvements over the previous model. The SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro GoTo is recommended for those looking for a mechanic with outstanding power handling that can be used for more serious astrophotography tasks. It is recommended for Newtonian telescopes up to 25 cm, Schmidt-Cassegrain systems up to 28 cm, and 18 cm lens telescopes!
The 5 cm thick steel feet and the considerable size of the mechanics head create excellent stability. Thanks to the ball-bearing shafts with fewer gears than the basic EQ-6, periodic error is also very low, which can be almost completely eliminated by guiding through the built-in autoguider port. Astrophotographers will appreciate the very fine corrections (up to 0.25x stellar speed) and the possibility of a teachable periodic error correction (PEC). Driving quality is further enhanced by thebuilt-in ribbed belt drive.
The SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro Goto mechanics feature ultra-strong steel shafts running on ball and roller bearings. This means the mechanism doesn't wobble and has no excess movement, so its stability and precision are correspondingly very high. The more delicate parts are housed inside the mechanics, where they are protected from damage, dirt and water - moisture - during transport. Also, for ease of transport, the counterweight shaft (with space for 4 counterweights) can be pushed back into the head of the mechanics. The basic package contains 2 x 5 kg counterweights.
