The Acuter Voyager MAK127-FAST MC OTA introduces several innovations to the world of Maksutov–Cassegrain telescopes. Its optics feature a faster focal ratio than usual, complemented by a unique friction-drive focusing system.
Shorter focal length, faster focal ratio
The 127/1359 mm MC OTA has a slightly shorter focal length and a faster focal ratio (f/10.7) than similar models. This provides a wider field of view and allows shorter exposure times for photography and planetary video recording. Although the Acuter Voyager MAK127-FAST MC OTA is supplied with a 1.25" mirror diagonal and eyepiece, it features a 2" connection. This supports the use of longer focal length, wider-field eyepieces with an optional 2" mirror diagonal.
The friction-drive focusing mechanism makes operation particularly convenient during daytime observations. The mechanism also features an external distance scale with markings at 16 m, 32 m and infinity, allowing quick and easy focus adjustment.
The OTA is equipped with a Vixen dovetail bar for quick attachment to astronomical mounts, while its 1/4" photo thread also allows it to be mounted on a standard photographic tripod.
The telescope OTA weighs only 4.3 kg and measures 480 mm in length, making it compact, easy to carry and an ideal travel telescope.
Acuter Traverse Pro GoTo mount
The included Acuter Traverse Pro alt-azimuth GoTo mount can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet via cable, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection. After a quick alignment procedure, the freely downloadable Acuter Sky app allows easy selection of any of more than 11,000 objects, which the mount will automatically locate and track.
Power can be supplied by 8 AA batteries placed in the battery compartment integrated into the mount head, or from an external 12 V power source, such as a gel battery or mains adapter.
The SNAP port on the mount head also supports exposure control for DSLR cameras based on the settings entered in the app.
The included T10 tripod attaches to the mount head via a 3/8" thread. Its maximum height, measured to the top of the mount head with the tripod legs fully extended, is 134 cm. Its minimum height, measured to the top of the mount head with the tripod legs retracted, is 87 cm.
