The Acuter Elite Phoenix 80/400 H-alpha solar telescope introduces an unprecedented concept. Featuring a conventional 80/400 optical tube, this true 3-in-1 instrument excels as a solar telescope, astronomical telescope and nature observation scope.
Observing prominences on the Sun's surface is impossible with conventional refractors, but the Acuter Elite Phoenix includes all the necessary accessories to use it as a fully featured 40 mm H-alpha solar telescope.
The Fabry-Pérot etalon unit, which attaches to the telescope's dew shield, has a 40 mm diameter and enables use as a solar telescope with a narrow 0.6 angstrom bandpass. The special mirror diagonal features an 8 mm diameter blocking filter (B800), compared to the 4–6 mm models offered by well-known brands in a similar price range. This makes it excellent for solar astrophotography as well. No additional UV/IR filter is required, as the filter coating blocks this wavelength range too.
By using an optional solar film filter instead of the removable front filter and replacing the mirror diagonal with a standard one, the Sun can also be observed in white light. An included solar finder helps locate our central star.
Without either the front filter or solar film filter, the included 5–16 mm zoom eyepiece provides a wide magnification range (25–80x) for daytime nature observation, delivering an experience similar to that of a spotting scope.
Under dark rural skies, the Acuter Elite Phoenix also offers a glimpse into the hidden world of deep-sky objects. Faint galaxies, globular clusters, open clusters and nebulae can be observed at low and medium magnifications. Night-time use can be made easier with a StarPointer. Any standard 1.25" eyepiece can be fitted to the telescope optionally.
