The UV/IR block filter (2") is designed to exclude unfocused infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) light rays from your images. Unlike the human eye, both CCD and CMOS cameras are highly sensitive to these wavelength ranges. However, lens systems struggle to focus them in the same focal plane as visible light, leading to distracting halos or out-of-focus spots in your photographs.
This optical aberration isn't limited to lens telescopes. Even in mirror systems, if a focal ratio extender or coma corrector (which utilize lenses) is introduced into the light path, the use of a UV/IR block filter is highly recommended.
