The Universal Tripod Adapter provides interoperability between individual mechanical heads, equatorial wedges and tripods.
Photo heads, ball heads with 1/4" or 3/8" tripod threads, mechanics heads compatible with StarAdventurer tripod legs, 3/8" tripod threads, while for example EQ-1, EQ-2 mechanics heads can be mounted with metric threads.
One use is to mount EQ-3-5, HEQ-5, AZ-4 feet on the Universal Tripod Adapter and attach photo heads, ball heads, or smaller mechanic heads through the countersunk holes on the adapter. The adapter also has space for the north spike often found on tripods.

Another use is that, when placed on a sturdy photo stand, it can mount the same heads.
