TrustFire MC3 flashlight

The TrustFire MC3 flashlight is a reliable LED light for everyday (EDC) use.

With a total of five modes, it's easy to access and learn to use. Just use a single switch on the front of the lamp to toggle between functions. Four constant-light modes and a combined fast-slow strobe function are available. To switch on and off, the switch button is held down for about half a second, and when on, short button presses are used to toggle between the different light intensities. The flashlight's memory function means that even after switching on/off, the flashlight will operate at the last used level when switched on again.

The strobe mode is accessed by long-pressing a button when the light is turned off and unfortunately the memory function is no longer available here, meaning it can only be accessed again by long-pressing a button the next time the light is turned on. The strobe mode switches from a fast burst to a slower burst and repeats until it is turned off at the highest brightness of 2500 lumens.

The power source for the TrustFire MC3 flashlight is a single, (included) high-powered 27100 rechargeable battery that can be charged from inside the unit via the magnetic connector on the head section from any standard USB port, using the included charging cable. The advantage of this solution is that the battery does not need to be removed from the device, so its water resistance will last longer. Twisting the battery cap in and out may, after a while, destroy the O-rings responsible for sealing. If the rubber ring does break, there is a spare ring in the box.

IP68 classified to protect against water and dust, the lamp is reliable even in harsh weather conditions. When the device is switched on, a dim, non-distracting LED colour built into the switch provides information about the battery charge status. The charging cable also has an indicator LED, changing from red to green when charging is complete. The lamp can reach high temperatures at high power, which the built-in protection system detects and reduces power until it cools down.

In its operating modes, the lowest 3 lumen mode allows the lamp to operate for up to 1000 hours with survival light. In addition, at 160 lumens for 75 meters for 16 hours, 700 lumens for 3.9 hours for 128 meters and2500 lumens for 360 meters for 160 minutes, the TrustFire MC3 flashlight can operate for up to 160 minutes.

The black, anodized aluminum body has a non-slip recensioning design that makes it comfortable to use even in larger men's hands. The battery-locking lid features a sturdy magnet so it can be attached not only to horizontal, flat surfaces, but even upside-down to iron surfaces. If you want to attach your flashlight to clothing or a backpack, the snap-off steel belt clip holds it securely. Also, an accessory wrist strap can be inserted into the holes on the battery cap.

It can take a drop from a height of up to 1 metre, so best not to throw it. If you want a more durable lamp than this, you should consider buying the slightly higher priced Armytek lamps.
