ToupTek GPM 462M monochrome camera

The ToupTek GPM 462M monochrome camera, with its high sensitivity (QE>89%), is primarily useful as a guide camera, but it can also be used for planetary photography (planetary video). You can also use monochrome cameras to take colour images using filters in a filter changer, or special filters to take special images. The ToupTek GPM 462M monochrome cameraalso has 512 megabytes of internal DDR3 buffer memory, which improves data transfer and reduces the so-called "amp-glow" noise of the sensor.

The 2.07-megapixel camera with backlighting Sony IMX462 sensor also produces very clear and noise-free images at shorter exposure times thanks to extremely low readout noise. If you want even better results, you should opt for the higher frame rate models from ToupTek.

The small, 2.9 μm pixel size guarantees the capture of fine details, while the 12-bit output allows the capture of 4096 rich shades. The camera is equipped with a built-in UV/IR filter, so there is no need to purchase this separately.

It is also suitable for capturing fainter deep-sky objects - planetary nebulae, compact galaxies - and binary stars, and 1.25" filters can be used if required using the C-mount/1.25" adapter included in the basic package. Thanks to the basic C-mount end, you can also use the camera directly with optional C-mount lenses (and with the right adapter, it can also be used as a microscope camera, although the colour version is more suitable).

The ToupTek GPM 462M monochrome camera features a USB-C 2.0 connector, and can record at 18 frames per second at the highest 1920x1080 pixel resolution.

For image capture, there are a number of free software downloads available from the internet, SharpCap and FireCapture are particularly recommended for Windows, but the manufacturer's own software (ToupSky) is also great to use. The popular PHD2 software also supports the camera, while the use of the ASCOM driver gives the device even broader support. The camera can be used with Windows, Linux and even Macintosh operating systems.
