The ToupTek G3M 715C colour camera with back-illuminated sensor is a high-sensitivity, high-resolution astrophotography camera with a back-illuminated sensor, making it a good choice for lunar, planetary and depth photography.
The Sony IMX715 back-illuminated sensor camera has the same sensor as the ZWO ASI 715 colour camera, but this model does not have a UV/IR block filter in front of the sensor, so the camera's sensor remains sensitive in these ranges. (You can of course retrofit a UV/IR filter in the light path)
An additional difference is that the camera can be placed directly into a 1.25" shutter, making it more practical as an autoguider camera. It is no coincidence that there is also a ST4 port in the camera housing. Thanks to the basic C-mount end, you can also use the camera directly with optional C-coupled lenses (and with the right adapter, it can also be used as a microscope camera)
Not only for capturing the sun, moon and planets, but also for photographing compact depth-of-field objects thanks to the high (91% QE)sensitivity of the sensor.
The sensor measures 5.57 x 3.13 mm, with 3840 x 2160 pixels involved in imaging, so you're looking at an 8.3 megapixel camera capable of 12 bits of color depth imaging. Because of the high colour depth and high resolution, the camera uses a USB 3.0 standard connector, so the computer side also needs to have the right hardware.
Sun, Moon, used as a planetary camera, it captures video at full resolution 8 bits using color depth at 47fps, meaning that in just one minute, a lot of frames are generated, which is the basis for successful planetary images. At lower resolutions (1920 x 1080), this can be increased to 70fps! The pixel size of 1.45 microns translates into fine detail and the potential for better post-production.
For image capture, there are a number of free software downloads available from the internet, SharpCap and FireCapture are particularly recommended for Windows, but the manufacturer's own software (ToupSky) is also great to use. The popular PHD2 software also supports the camera, while the use of the ASCOM driver gives the device even broader support. The camera can be used with Windows, Linux and even Macintosh operating systems.
