ToupTek G3M 664C color camera

The ToupTek G3 664C colour camera is the ideal choice for sun, moon and planetary photographers. The high resolution and small pixel size can capture beautiful details even in primary focus. But not only does the instrument perform well as a planetary camera, it can also be used for depth photography, especially of compact objects such as galaxies, globular clusters, etc. Its ST4 port also makes it a great guide camera.

The camera uses SONY 's state-of-the-art, high-sensitivity,back-illuminated IMX664 sensor. With a resolution of 4 MP (2688 x 1520) and a chip size of 7.84 x 4.45 mm, the 2.9 μm pixels on the 4 MP sensor are capable of resolving very fine details, making the surface of the moon or details of planets appear beautiful. Thanks to the 12-bit color depth and STARVIS technology, you can expect a huge dynamic range and low noise, with a high QE >91% sensitivity.

The ToupTek G3 664C color camera is the "golden mean" between Sony's 2.9 micron pixel size cameras. Not only is it recommended for shooting moon, sun and planetary videos, but its large field of view makes it great for photographing compact depth-of-field objects. The camera works particularly well with APO refractors even at short focal lengths, but is also ideal for example when using the popular200/1000 newton at 3x focus stretch, or other F5 systems.

The product does not have a built-in UV/IR block filter, so it is also extremely sensitive in the infrared range. When shooting colour, a UV/IR block filter is absolutely necessary.

The ToupTek G3 664C color camera is capable of recording at the highest 2688 x 1520 pixel resolution 126 frames per second (8 bits). Stable and fast data transfer is aided by built-in512 Mbyte DDR3 memory buffer and USB3.0 connectivity

For image capture, there's a range of free software available for download from the internet, and under Windows we particularly recommend SharpCap and FireCapture, but it's also great to use with the manufacturer's own software (ToupSky). The popular PHD2 software also supports the camera, while the use of the ASCOM driver gives the device even broader support. The camera can be used with Windows, Linux and even Macintosh operating systems.
