Svbony SV221 Amici-prism 1.25" (45°)

In contrast to zenith mirrors, the Svbony SV221 1.25" 45° Amici prism provides a straight and side-on image, making it an ideal choice for daytime nature observation. Its 45° viewing angle makes it more comfortable to use an Amici prism than a Zenith prism when viewing objects close to the horizon.

For astronomical observation, the use of a Zenith mirror is preferable because the latter is more light-harvesting than the prisms, but the Moon and the brighter planets reflect enough light to be enjoyable to view with Amici prisms.

A particularly sympathetic feature of the Svbony SV221 1.25" 45° Amici prism is that it has three screws and a copper clamping ring to hold the eyepiece. On the one hand, this results in a very stable grip, and on the other hand, it avoids notches caused by the clamping screws on the gripping part of the eyepieces. The 1.25" 45° Amici prism telescope eyepiece of the Svbony SV221 has a filter thread. For example, by attaching one half of the folding Scopium polarizing filter to this and wrapping the other half around the eyepiece, it is easy to adjust the necessary light reduction by simply rotating the eyepiece.
