The SkyWatcher Heritage 100/400 Dobson telescope is an extremely portable, ultra-compact, featherweight astronomical telescope with a price that is far from astronomical. At the heart of the SkyWatcher Heritage 100/400 Dobson is a precision-crafted 100 mm primary mirror. Unlike many entry-level reflector telescopes, it has a parabolic surface rather than a spherical one, providing sharp, pleasing images even at high magnifications. Under dark skies away from city lights, an instrument of this size reveals a wealth of celestial objects: star clusters, nebulae, and dozens of galaxies. With sufficient experience, you can also catch a glimpse of Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons.
The classic Dobsonian mount offers not only portability but also excellent stability. Unlike entry-level telescopes mounted on simpler equatorial mounts, the image remains steady even at high magnifications. The base of the Dobsonian mount features a 3/8" tripod thread, allowing the mount to be fitted to a SkyWatcher Star Adventurer tripod for more comfortable observing.
The telescope comes with 25 mm and 10 mm focal length barium eyepieces, as well as a 2x Barlow lens, providing magnifications of 16x, 32x, 40x and 80x. Naturally, the magnification range can be extended with additional eyepieces, up to 120x, which is also the recommended upper limit for the SkyWatcher Heritage 100/400 Dobson telescope.
The primary mirror is bonded in place inside the optical tube, so its collimation cannot shift. Fine adjustment is possible by adjusting the secondary mirror.
