Scopium SF172 solar filter in cell enables safe solar observation with telescopes of the appropriate size. One of the product’s key advantages is its robust aluminium filter frame, offering a durable and reliable solution even with regular use.
The Scopium SF172 solar filter has a clear aperture of 172 mm and can be fitted to telescope tubes from various manufacturers with an outer diameter of 164–190 mm.
The fastening screws feature plastic inserts, providing two key benefits: the filter remains securely and vibration-free mounted while preventing scratches or damage to the outer surface of the telescope tube.
Another advantage is that the filter can be replaced if damaged, providing better serviceability and a longer service life compared to fixed-design alternatives.
Thanks to front-mounted filtering, solar radiation is significantly reduced before it reaches the objective lens, which is an essential requirement for safe solar observation. When properly secured, the solar filter film is suitable for observing the solar disc, sunspots and other photospheric details, provided that the telescope specifications and observing conditions allow it. The filter displays the Sun in a light yellow colour.
