The advantage of binocular stereo microscopes is that children do not need to prepare slides: objects can simply be placed underneath, and the segmented leg of an insect or the veins of a leaf can be explored at 20x magnification. Thanks to its built-in LED illumination and glass lenses, it delivers a surprisingly sharp, clear image.
