The Opticron MM4 62 GA VHD spotting scope is a premium, compact optical instrument. It is an excellent choice for birdwatching and nature observation: its objective lens delivers an exceptionally sharp, high-contrast image, while its short body and light weight make it highly portable.
Japanese-made ED optics
This spotting scope, designed and manufactured in Japan, features a 62 mm three-element ED glass objective lens that effectively reduces chromatic aberration. Like most high-end models, the spotting scope does not include an eyepiece, allowing users to choose the option best suited to their needs. It can therefore be used with both zoom and fixed-magnification eyepieces. Thanks to its high-quality, multilayered FMC coatings, the spotting scope provides a more contrast-rich, brighter and more colour-faithful image than lower-priced models.
Waterproof construction
The Opticron MM4 62 GA VHD spotting scope is waterproof, so there is no need to worry about moisture or fog entering the body. Its short 3.9 m close-focus distance also makes it suitable for observations at closer range. The 62 mm objective lens offers good light-gathering ability, while the high magnification makes it especially suitable for detailed observation of birds, waterfowl, birds of prey and other animals viewed at a distance.
Dual-speed focusing
Ease of use is further enhanced by the body, which can be rotated by ±90 degrees within the tripod collar, allowing the viewing position to be adjusted easily. The highly precise dual-speed (9:1 ratio) micro-focus focusing system also deserves special mention. An optional photo adapter is available, allowing photography with a camera.
Measuring just 235 mm in length and weighing 788 grams, the Opticron MM4 62 GA VHD delivers serious optical performance in a remarkably compact and lightweight body. This makes it easy to carry for hiking, travel and field birdwatching.
The Opticron MM4 62 GA VHD spotting scope is supplied as a body only, without an eyepiece. The desired magnification can be achieved by selecting an optional eyepiece:
| Eyepiece | Magnification |
| MM3 zoom | 16 - 48x |
| HR3 zoom | 16 - 48x |
| SDL v4 zoom | 15 - 45x |
