The Kowa BD II 8x42 XD binoculars are optimized for those who want a high quality instrument for everyday use. With its high-quality optics, ultra-lightweight yet rugged construction, extremely small close focus (1.5 meters!) and a field of view that is 20% larger than previous models, it stands out from the field. Its interior is filled with nitrogen gas to withstand rain, snow and atmospheric humidity.
New solutions for high image quality
A number of factors are "responsible" for the particularly good imaging in the Kowa BD II 8x42 XD binoculars. The manufacturer's proprietary XD lens elements cater for extreme reduction of chromatic aberration and ensure very high image contrast across the entire field of view.
Exceptional light recovery is guaranteed by the multi-layer optical coatings applied to all lenses and all glass elements. The C3 coating on the roof prisms further enhances the colour fidelity of the telescope's image.
Also thanks to optical improvements is the telescope's uniquely small close-focus of just 1.5 metres - you can observe even such close objects at 8x magnification, "macro" style. Also ideal for close observation of plants and insects.
Compact, robust, waterproof
The Kowa BD II 8x42 XD binoculars are made from a special magnesium alloy. It is therefore lightweight but robust and impact resistant. Its weight is close to that of a 32 mm general binocular, but it brings the performance of the best 42 mm diameter binoculars in all conditions. Its interior is filled with nitrogen gas, which prevents moisture from entering the instrument even in the most extreme conditions (heavy rain, snow, fog).
