Immersion Oil (15 ml) is required for the use of OIL-marked objectives on biological microscopes. Since this objective is positioned at a hair’s breadth above the slide, it can achieve its maximum resolution through oil with a refractive index similar to that of glass. The oil, dropped between the glass cover slip of the specimen and the glass of the objective, eliminates the image-distorting effect of air with a different refractive index. After use, it must be removed from the slide with optical cleaning fluid.
The product is supplied in a 15 ml bottle with a dropper. The refractive index of the product at 20°C: N=1.515-1.520.
