The Explore Scientific ASTRO-R-LITE LED night vision light makes night vision more comfortable.
Our eyes have a better tolerance for red-range light. While white light degrades our night vision, which takes 20-30 minutes to adapt to, for longer or shorter periods of time, red light does not have this effect to any significant extent. But if you do need light to browse maps or organise your gear, the Explore Scientific ASTRO-R-LITE LED flashlight is the ideal solution. By holding the power button halfway down, you can choose between two levels of illumination and switch to flashing mode, or change the brightness by twisting the head.
A not insignificant aspect is that the lamp is waterproof, and also a timeless metal construction. It is powered by a single AA pencil battery, which is included in the package. A handy clip makes it easy to attach the lantern to your clothes, but the included carrying carabiner also securely fastens the lantern against abandonment.
