The Celestron Motorized Focuser provides precise, electronic focusing for Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (SCT), EdgeHD and RASA telescope tubes.
With the Celestron motorized focuser, you can adjust focus using the telescope's hand control or computer instead of manual focusing. The focus motor is great for visual observers who want to set precise focus but are inexperienced and have dexterity issues. It's almost a must-have accessory for astrophotographers as, in addition to the accuracy essential for photography, it has the added advantage that you no longer need to be physically near the telescope to focus.
The Celestron motorized focuser is compatible with all 6" to 14" aperture SCTs manufactured since 2006. Not compatible with 5" SCTs or older models. Compatible with 8" Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA), 36 cm RASA, 7" Maksutov-Cassegrain and all EdgeHD tubes. The RASA 11 (91075) is compatible with the #94155-A focuser, but you will need the "Focuser Retrofit Kit" for the RASA 11. The RASA 11 V2 ( 91076) is compatible with #94155-A without retrofit. If you do not know the year of manufacture of your tube, you will need to look at the back of the tube. The old models cannot be used with the focuser, they have a flat back or a radial rib (see separate picture in the product pictures).
For 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, the Off-Axis Guider (#93648) cannot be used with the Celestron motorized focuser.
If you are using a hand-held controller, you can operate the focus motor via the included AUX cable. If you are not using a handheld, you can operate and control the focus motor via the USB port on your computer. For power supply, you can also use an external 12V DC power supply that connects to the 12V input of the motor.
Celestron offers a free Focuser Utility program for computer control. Celestron PWI software can also control the focus motor. To use third-party focus control software, an ASCOM driver is required.
