If you have a device (e.g. Star Adventurer mechanics, Lacerta/Mgen-II guider camera) that can control the exposure time of your camera, you can connect them with an exposure cable. When buying, please pay attention to the jack plug of the device you want to control (e.g. mechanics, Mgen-II), otherwise you may need a 2.5/3.5 mm jack plug adapter (tip: SkyWatcher mechanics have a 2.5 mm, Lacerta Mgen-II autoguider have a 3.5 mm diameter jack plug, so a flexible cable is recommended for this device)
The advantage of a flexible cable is that it will not be stiff in cold conditions, and will not be prone to breaking somewhere, thus preventing night-time astrophotography.
