The Baader U-filter is a special filter that enables amateurs to capture atmospheric phenomena on Venus. Thanks to advanced coatings, the filter transmits wavelengths in the 300-400 nm range, while blocking wavelengths between 200-1500 nm outside this range. (Imaging in the deep UV wavelength range has generally not been available to amateurs until now.) The filter is intended for observation with astro cameras only, as the human eye is insensitive to UV rays. For successful use, a camera sensitive to the UV range and a telescope with a minimum aperture of 13 cm (20 cm when using a webcam) are required.
