Astronomik's Luminance UV/IR filters are designed to get the most out of all types of binoculars, for the best possible signal-to-noise ratio and sharpest action in deep-sky photography. The Astronomik Luminance is an improved UV/IR block filter with a transmission curve fine-tuned to the characteristics of the optical system.
The Luminance filter is available in three versions:
- L-1 filter has the widest passband. It is recommended when the optical system is completely free of color aberration
- L-2 filter is a general purpose filter, recommended in most cases when there is some kind of corrector or reducer in the light path
- L-3 is recommended primarily for refractors where color correction is not the most perfect, as when used with the Deep-Sky RGB filter, this filter minimizes bluish halos around stars
